A Tibetan nun set herself on fire to protest against the Chinese government’s repressive policies in Tibet.

“A Tibetan nun self-immolated around 3 pm Saturday (29 March) while circumambulating the Ba Choede monastery in Bathang country in Karze prefecture (incorporated into China’s Sichuan Province). Nearby Tibetans who witnessed the incident tried to douse the fire and sent her to a hospital.

The self-immolators have called for the return of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Tibet and freedom for Tibetans.
