Tsepey was the foruth youngest among her six brothers and sisters, born to parent Chimey Dorjee (also known as Chidor) and Chenpa in the nomadic camp no.4
of meuruma Township. She was ‘well-behanved, honest and gentle. She had not received a formal education but grew up working as a herder with her parents, described by source in exile who knew her in Tibet. According to the same sources, police has reportedly taken her 60-year-old father and 50-year-old mother away, but it is not clear whether they have been detained.
